Abigail Portner was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland (also the death place of Edgar Allen Poe). Known in a variety of genres as a solo musician, under the moniker Drawlings, as well as in the groups Hex Message, First Nation and Rings, Abby is also a visual artist collaborating most notably with Animal Collective, Alien Workshop, Baker Skateboards, Cass McCombs, Jim Henson Studios and many others. Sometimes as a painter, sometimes a filmmaker, stop motion animator, set designer, costume builder—Abby is too varied to pin down.
