The nicest guy in the art world meets the nicest guy in skateboarding.
Like most of our videos, this one is filmed and edited by Patrick O’Dell, and here's what he has to say about it:
"Every time I run into Oliver Payne, he always asks me about Theotis Beasley.
Oliver grew up skating in London and, at one time, was semi-sponsored by FOS’ company, Heroin skateboards.
I met Oliver later when I ran around in New York ... basically, he has a long history as a friend of Altamont, but besides being our friend, he has a prolific art career that speaks for itself:
His work with creative partner Nick Relph has been exhibited in the New York MoMA, the Tate, Serpentine Gallery and Gavin Brown’s.
Together, Payne and Relph won the Golden Lion award for “Best Artist Under 35” at the Venice Biennale ... and the list goes on forever.
Oliver wanted to make a video with Theotis, but we weren't sure where to start, so I thought, “let's just go to his house and make a video about that.”
They couldn't be a more diverse pairing, but sometimes the connection of skateboarding, creativity and enthusiasm is all it takes."
